Behavioural Support

Helping dogs and their families navigate fear, anxiety, reactivity and challenging behaviours

Living with a dog who struggles with the world around them can feel overwhelming. Whether your dog barks and lunges on walks, worries about people or dogs, struggles to cope with change, or finds everyday life difficult, support is available.

At Parker’s Canine Training, we take a behaviour-led approach, focusing on why a behaviour is happening, not just how to stop it.

Together, we’ll build a plan that helps your dog feel safer, more confident and better able to cope.

My approach

Every dog is an individual. Behaviour is influenced by many factors including genetics, learning history, environment, emotions and physical wellbeing.

I use evidence-based behaviour modification approaches including:

✓ Understanding your dog’s emotional state

✓ Identifying triggers and patterns

✓ Creating appropriate management strategies

✓ Desensitisation and counter-conditioning

✓ Building confidence and resilience

✓ Teaching practical skills for real-life situations

The goal isn’t simply to stop a behaviour — it’s to help your dog develop better coping strategies.

How behavioural support works

Getting started

Every behaviour journey begins with understanding. We'll work together, step by step, to understand your dog's behaviour, create a personalised plan and support you as you put it into practice.

1. Behaviour Assessment

A two-stage assessment, split across two one-hour sessions at my training field and in your home. By observing your dog in different environments, I can build a fuller picture of what's influencing their behaviour.

2. Your Personalised Action Plan

Following your assessment, you'll receive a tailored action plan with practical management strategies, training exercises and clear next steps designed specifically for you and your dog.

3. Ongoing Behaviour Coaching

Behaviour change takes time. Ongoing coaching provides continued guidance, practical support and regular reviews to help you build confidence and celebrate progress together.

From First Assessment to Lasting Change

Behaviour change isn't about quick fixes—it's about understanding your dog, building trust and creating practical solutions that work for your family. Whatever challenges you're facing, you don't have to navigate them alone.

A little note about behaviour

Behaviour change is not a quick fix. Dogs are not being “naughty” or “stubborn” — behaviour is communication.

By understanding what your dog is experiencing, we can create meaningful, lasting change.
