Time to ditch the tradition!
Traditional puppy classes focused on teaching sits, stays, and downs in sterile settings, but as our understanding of canine development has evolved, we now know that building confidence, resilience, and real-life coping skills lays a far stronger foundation for raising a well-rounded, emotionally balanced adult dog — and that’s what truly helps in the long run.
At the heart of our Puppy Confidence Course lies a foundation built not on outdated obedience models, but on modern, evidence-based understanding of canine development. We're proud to be inspired by the work of Kristina Spaulding and her Unlocking Resilience Mastercourse, which deepens our understanding of how puppies build emotional resilience — not just through training cues, but through real experiences that shape the brain and nervous system.
Resilience is the ability to bounce back from stress, to adapt, and to stay emotionally regulated in the face of change. We combine behavioural science with compassion, helping us move beyond traditional classes and into a more holistic, relationship-based approach. We're not just teaching puppies to “sit” — we're helping them learn how to cope, how to trust, and how to thrive in a complex world.
Through this course, we’re bringing that science to life in practical, meaningful ways for both puppies and their people.
🐾 Puppy Confidence Course
Helping You Build a Resilient, Confident Companion from the Ground Up
Our Puppy Confidence Course is unlike the standard sit-down-and-stay puppy class. We've designed a thoughtful, interactive experience that nurtures your puppy’s body, brain, and bond with you — setting them up to grow into a well-rounded, confident adult dog.
🐾What Makes This Course Different?
At the heart of our course is a bespoke confidence-building environment, packed with exciting yet gentle challenges tailored specifically for puppies. Your puppy will have the opportunity to explore:
🛤 Walkways, bridges, and ramps
🔄 Tyres to step through and tunnels to crawl through
🐕 Lead walking zones
🗣 A dedicated recall pen for safe practice
🕊 Wait stations for building impulse control
🛋 Two settle zones to practice calm observation
This is more than just socialisation — this is enrichment with purpose.
🐾Why Proprioception Matters
Proprioception is your puppy’s awareness of their own body in space — how they place their feet, how they balance, and how they adjust to uneven or moving surfaces. Just like toddlers learning to walk, puppies need time and safe opportunities to learn how to move with confidence.
Helping a puppy develop body awareness:
Reduces clumsiness and hesitation
Builds confidence in novel environments
Improves coordination and balance
Lowers reactivity to movement, surfaces, and unpredictable stimuli
When a puppy knows what their body is doing, they feel more secure — and that security translates into calmer behaviour and greater adaptability later in life.
🐾Building Trust Through Teamwork
Navigating our course isn’t just for the puppy — it’s a chance for you both to learn how to move together, communicate clearly, and trust one another.
As you guide your puppy over the bridge, through the tunnel, or around the lead walking zone, you're not just teaching them “how” — you're showing them that you’re a team. Every pause, every cue, every success builds a stronger relationship and reinforces that their person is a safe and reliable guide through the world.
🐾Calm Around Canines
We've deliberately designed the course to include settle areas and wait stations, where puppies can learn to sit calmly and watch other dogs work around them. This is a powerful skill.
Why?
Dogs that can watch without reacting become more stable in stimulating environments.
Observing helps puppies learn from each other.
Being okay with doing nothing is as important as learning a new trick.
It’s one of the first steps toward a dog who can handle cafes, vets, busy paths, or just your neighbour’s dog walking past without a meltdown.
From Confidence to Resilience
We believe that early learning should prepare dogs not just to follow cues, but to be emotionally robust, adaptable, and calm when life gets unpredictable.
That’s why our course focuses on:
Real-life foundations (not just cues)
Emotional regulation
Confidence without overwhelm
Relationship-based learning
Standard puppy classes often focus on sit, down, and come — and while those are useful, they mean very little if your dog is too overwhelmed, fearful, or distracted to hear you.
We start with confidence, calmness, and connection — because when those things are in place, the rest flows naturally.

What Parker's Canine Care offers is a 4 week socialisation package from 8 weeks to 16 weeks of age. This is to guide and support your puppies journey and offer firm foundations on which to shape positive behavior.
It is crucial to remember that training a puppy isn't like programming a machine. You don't just do it once and its done. When training and socialisation continue the dog will become better trained and more sociable. When it stops the dogs sociability and level of training will decrease.
Socialisation, confidence building and temperament training must be accomplished during puppyhood this will help the puppy develop into a good natured, well behaved and happy adult dog.
There are many stages of development that new owners will have no influence over during Neonatal and Transitional periods. But you will for the socialisation period. It starts from 3 weeks to around 12/13 weeks. So when the puppy arrives at their forever home at 8 weeks you're already playing catch up.
This is where the choice of breeder is important. If done correctly your puppy should be desensitised to the physical aspects of a home environment e.g hoover noise, children, people coming and going, positive human interactions etc.
What does it include?
Detailed weekly training program
Positive association-depth knowledge of the canine mind
The ability to problem solve unwanted behaviours
handling, preparation for vet and groomer visits
Human socialisation
Dog socialisation
Basic skills training
Weekly progress report and updates of each visit
Home work sheets
